A Sydney boutique or homewares shop can use large wall art as a backdrop for displays, a focal point behind the counter, or a feature on a fitting-room wall. Hour & Hearth designs are 150 × 100cm, framed and ready to hang, made to order in 12–16 weeks from deposit, with no minimum order.

How can a Sydney boutique use large wall art?

In a small shop, one big piece often does more than many small ones. A single 150 × 100cm artwork gives the eye somewhere to rest and sets the mood of the space without competing with your product.

Three placements tend to work well:

  • Behind the counter or till. It frames the till area and appears in the background of customers' photos.
  • Above a display table or shelving run. It anchors a vignette, so the products below feel styled rather than simply shelved.
  • On a feature wall facing the door. It is the first thing people see on entry and signals the tone of the shop.

Keep the wall around it calm. Leave clear space on each side, and avoid hanging it where shelving will hide the lower edge. For general proportion advice, see our note on sizing statement wall art.

Which designs suit which kind of shop?

Match the palette to what you sell, so the art supports the product instead of fighting it. These are rules of thumb, not fixed answers:

  • Coastal Wave (white texture over sand, textured shoreline) suits linen, ceramics and light, natural homewares.
  • Sage Bloom (sage and cream) suits botanical, skincare, candles and soft-toned gifts.
  • Terra (rust, stone and black line) suits earthy homewares, timber and woven goods.
  • Monochrome (black and white) suits fashion and clean, contemporary displays where colour comes from the stock on the rails.
  • Tidewater (blue, navy and gold) suits a more tailored shop with dark joinery or brass fittings.
  • Starry Night (gold-leaf detail through charcoal and white) suits a boutique that wants a little glow and texture on a darker wall.

Browse the full collection to compare them. Designs are photographed either vertical or horizontal, but any design can be hung either way, so you can choose the orientation that fits your wall.

Canvas print or oil painting for a shop?

Both are available for every design. Canvas prints are colour-matched to the original design, which suits a shop that needs a consistent look across more than one wall or location. Oil paintings are hand-applied, so texture and tone can differ slightly from the photographs; some shops prefer that quality of surface as a point of difference.

Trade pricing is available on application. Retailers can apply for a trade account and the studio sends the priced line sheet. Our retailer page explains how it works.

What should I plan for when ordering?

A few practical points make fit-outs run more smoothly:

  1. Allow for the lead time. Pieces are made to order, 12–16 weeks from deposit. If you are fitting out a new shop, order the art early in the project.
  2. Measure and check fixings. Confirm your wall type and use fixings rated for the weight of a large framed piece. Hang it with two people.
  3. Decide the budget conversation early. A deposit secures a piece, the amount is confirmed on the quote, and the balance is due before delivery. Payment is by PayID or bank transfer, and GST is shown on the quote.
  4. See it first. Every design is currently in Sydney. You can view them in person by appointment at our studio in Beverly Hills, Sydney, or we can bring pieces to you. Ask us what is available.

If you are weighing other options as well, the thinking in our guide to large wall art in Sydney applies to shops as much as homes, and our post on choosing large wall art in Sydney covers size, light and frame in more detail.
