Wall Art for Interior Designers in Sydney: What to Ask a Supplier

Interior designers in Sydney source statement wall art by asking a supplier five things before specifying: the exact size and frame, the finish, the lead time, how payment works, and whether the piece can be seen in person. Our pieces are 150 × 100cm, framed, ready to hang, and made to order in 12–16 weeks.

What should I ask a supplier before I specify wall art?

Start with the facts that affect your drawings and your programme. A good supplier can answer each of these in a sentence:

  • What is the finished size, including the frame?
  • Is the piece ready to hang on delivery?
  • What finishes are offered, and how do they differ?
  • What is the lead time, and when does it start?
  • How does payment work, and is there a minimum order?

If an answer is vague, that is useful information too. Written answers also make it easier to pass details on to your own client, builder and installer.

What size and frame can I specify?

Every Hour & Hearth design is 150 × 100cm in a light beige floating frame, ready to hang. That single size keeps your documentation simple: one set of dimensions, one frame, whichever design you choose.

Designs are photographed either vertical or horizontal, but any design can be hung either way, so you can decide on orientation once you see the wall. Horizontal tends to suit the wall above a sofa, console or bed. Vertical suits an entry or the space between windows. For more on proportion, see our guide to sizing statement wall art.

Canvas print or oil painting: which finish suits the project?

Each design is available as a Canvas Print or an Oil Painting. Canvas prints are colour-matched to the original design, which makes them predictable when you are matching a palette across several rooms. Oil paintings are hand-applied, so texture and tone can differ slightly from photographs. That can suit a room where you want the surface to catch the light.

Both are worth seeing against your actual finishes. Our post on canvas print vs oil painting sets out the differences in more detail.

How do I plan around the lead time?

Pieces are made to order, and the lead time is 12–16 weeks from deposit. Work backwards from your install date and allow for that window on top of your approval time. Art is often chosen late in a project, so raise it early in your schedule. Our trade buyer's guide to lead times walks through a simple way to do this.

There is no minimum order, so you can specify a single statement piece for one room or several across a project. A deposit secures a piece, and the amount is confirmed on the quote. The balance is due before delivery, by PayID or bank transfer. GST is shown on the quote, and delivery within Sydney is quoted per order.

Can I see the art before I specify it?

Yes. Every design is currently in Sydney. You can view them in person by appointment at our studio in Beverly Hills, Sydney, or we can bring pieces to you and your client in Sydney. Ask us what is available.

Seeing a piece on the day matters most with texture and gold-leaf detail, such as Starry Night, because both shift with the light. It also helps to hold a piece beside your fabric and timber samples. Tidewater in blue, navy and gold and Terra in rust, stone and black line are two designs that reward a side-by-side look.

How does trade pricing work?

Trade pricing is available on application. It is not published online. Approved trade accounts receive the priced line sheet from the studio. You can apply on our trade page for interior designers, then browse large wall art in Sydney while you wait.
